Goodbye, Lilly

Two weeks before our girl was to leave on her journey to Texas, ‘Lilly’ was born into our family. We knew we couldn’t send her that far all by her little ole self with her current vehicle. She had her heart set on a yellow beetle bug. Which was ok with us, after all, we are a slug bugging family! Off we went in search for said dream car. The one we found was a stick shift which she didn’t know how to drive. Dad set out to teach her. It was tough & frustrating. I’d given ‘Lilly’ the first nickname of ‘Lemon Shakeup.’ It was embarrassing for her, but she prevailed having that strong determination about her. Dad loves to tell the story about the day she was headed to work & as she walked past her new car kicking the tire headed to drive her old car!

Parade line up!
Remember my ditch trip?  Just days later, Lilly also took a trip into a ditch.  A sad ending. The insurance adjuster rendered her little yellow bug totaled.  A couple weeks later we now can see how God has worked this situation for her good.  Her goal: debt free.  She now has a vehicle that’s paid for!  Life is tough & stinky things happen, but without those times we don’t get to see the good that our Lord brings from the yuck!
Lots of slug bugs in this Parade!
It was a cold icy January day when she left, her little Lilly stuffed to the gills.   I cried all day long!  It was a journey that grew her in many different ways.  She’s back home now…seeking & searching for the next chapter in God’s plan for her life.
P.S.  We are a family who names our vehichles!  I just have to know….do you?  If so, please share!

  1. oh yeah….we are 'goofy' like that and name our vehicles too.
“Big Green”—our 3/4 ton GMC truck
    “Old Sal” —-our Tahoe
“Granny” —- our Lincoln Town Car (the kids tell me it's a granny car !)
My sweet friend named her mini cooper—- “Twinkie” cause it's yellow with white stripes …of course. 🙂
    Have a great week!
